Arusha National Park Day Trip

Enjoy Tanzania experience: this customizable tour offers the rare chance to see wildlife outside of a safari vehicle and watch for big game and birdlife by foot.

Duration: 9 hours (approx.)

You will have a morning start from the hotel or arranged pickup point, then drive for Arusha National park with lunch boxes. It’s only 35km from Arusha city and about 70 km from Moshi town. This park is a bird-watchers paradise and home to hundreds of African animals.

Arusha National Park though is the staggering population of flamingos that cluster in the warm water of the Momella lakes feeding on blue-green algae.

You can explore Momella lakes in Arusha National park by boat and enjoy spotting the hippos that linger just at the surface on the water and see some of diverse birdlife such as African fish eagle, African spoonbill, and little grebe are common here. The park is known as an ornithological by bird-watchers.

Walking safari is also offered in this national park, which makes it special for visitors. After your trip the memories of being able to hear, smell and even taste nature on foot will surface time after time. There is just something special about walking in the bush!

You will have a lunch box in the game park while enjoying the wonderful landscapes, if the clouds are clear you can see Mount Kilimanjaro and mount Meru from Arusha National Park.

At around 1500hrs we begin the return to town and finish the day with drop-off in the city of Arusha or Moshi.

Note: it is advisable not to wear sandals or shorts during nature walks.

Walking will be 1:30 to 2:30 hours accompanied by an armed ranger. The rangers carry guns only to shoot in the air to frighten the Cape buffalo or any other animals when needed to do so.

Each hiker needs a small rucksack to carry water, warm clothes and full waterproofs – the weather can change incredibly quickly as clouds swoop down from mount Meru summit depending on the time of the year. Warm and waterproof equipment and a pair of stout walking boots are needed as in some areas the ground can be soft.
