Kilimanjaro in One Day

Several options to hike for one day on mount Kilimanjaro. Especially if your not interested to reach the top but love to experience Kilimanjaro.

Each hiker needs a small rucksack to carry water, warm clothes and full waterproofs – the weather can change incredibly quickly as clouds swoop down from the summit depending on the time of the year. Warm and waterproof equipment and a pair of stout walking boots are needed as in some areas the ground can be soft.

A place begging to be explored

Designed for guests who have limited time and who are not interested in reaching any of the summits. This safari is tailored to those who are interested in seeing the fascinating vegetation zones. There are more than 4 main routes for approaching Mount Kilimanjaro, but for a day trip only Marangu and Machame routes are easier, close and appropriate to visit for 1 day.

Set off at 6am from Arusha or 7am if starting from Moshi town; drive to Kilimanjaro, arrive around 9:30am and start the tour at the gate. You will have chance to see the people and surrounding villages, accompanied by a local guide sharing stories, explaining of tales on what local people believes about, visit one of the best waterfalls around the area.

DAY TRIP HIKKING KILIMANJARO

MACHAME DAY TRIP

It involves going up to the first camp at Machame camp at 3000m and come back via the same route on the same day – there is a drive about 35km from Moshi, which will take 45 minutes – 1 hour. Then at Machame you make A registration and payment and get a valid permit. The hiking starts at Machame gate at 1800m and the distance to cover to Machame camp is 11km (22km round trip) which will take 4-5 hours for each direction.

MARANGU DAY TRIP

Kilimanjaro Marangu day hike involves going up to the first camp at Mandara hut (2720m) and come back via the same route on the same day. There is a drive about 45km from Moshi town which will take 1 hour. At Marangu gate you have to do some registrations and pay the park entrance fee to get a valid permit to start the hike. Marangu gate is 1879m above sea level and the distance to Mandara hut is 8km (16 km round trip), which will take 3 to 4 hours for each direction.

NOTE: Porters are not required for day trips, but guides are. Park regulations mandate that there can be at most two clients for each guide.

The company will provide lunch and water.
