Mikumi National Park

It is the most accesible from Dar Es Salaam, both by road and charter plane.

Lying astride the main highway from Dar es Salaam to Zambia, Mikumi National Park covers an area of 3230 square km. and is the third largest park in Tanzania.

The park lies in a horse-shoe of towering mountains and forested foothills of the Mkata River. To the east rises the 900 m. Massif of Uluguru Ranges, while in the south-west are the craggy peaks of the Lunango Mountains.
The park is rich in wildlife and animals like lions, impalas, wildebeests, buffaloes, warthogs and elephants can be seen easily all the year round. Reptiles including crocodiles, monitor lizards and pythons are resident in the park. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded, some of which are Eurasian migrants.
